1.The patient has a history of sleep disorder.

2.In mild cases, the patient has difficulty falling asleep, or has liability to wake up during sleep and can not sleep again after waking up. In serious cases, the patient cannot fall asleep all the night.

3.The disorder often occur together with headache, dizziness, palpation, forgetfulness, disquieted heart spirit, profuse dreaming, etc.

4.On every systematic examination and laboratory examination no other organic diseases are found to interrupt sleep.

Tuina Treatment

Principle 

Nourish the heart and quiet the spirit, with vacuity pattern supported by splenic fortification, enriching yin and nourishing blood, as well as repletion pattern assisted by coursing the liver, clearing heat and transforming phlegm.

Yintang(EX-HN3), Shenting(GV24), Jingming(BL1), Cuanzhu(BL2), Taiyang(EX-HN5), Jiaosun(TE20), Fengchi(GB20), Xinshu(BL15), Ganshu(BL18), Pishu(BL20), Weishu(BL21), Shenshu(BL23), Mingmen(GV4), etc.

Manipulation

Yizhichan pushing, kneading, wiping, pressing, sweeping, grasping, rolling manipulation, etc.

Basic manipulation

1.The patient takes a seating position. The doctor applies Yizhichan pushing manipulation or kneading with thenar eminence from Yintang(EX-HN3) up to Shenting(GV24) back and forth for 5 to 6 times, then pushes from Yintang(EX-HN3) to Taiyang (EX-HN5) along the eyebrows back and forth 5 to 6 times. Push the orbit with one-finger qi concentration back and forth for 3 to4 times, then push from Yintang(EX-HN3) along both sides of the nose, down through Yingxiang(LI20) along the cheekbone then to the front of both ears, repeat 2 to 3 times. Yintang(EX-HN3), Shenting(GV24), Jingming(BL2) and Taiyang(EX-HN5) should be focused during the whole process of manipulation.
